Not every AI workload lives in a datacenter aisle. Edge locations — factories, retail sites, remote research stations, cell towers — need compute that survives the environment and manages itself remotely.

ARCHITECTURE

Solution block diagram.

The block diagram shows how the Edge Datacenter Node folds compute, storage, and DCIM into a single hardened chassis. A Xeon compute module runs edge inference and control workloads. A PCIe Gen4 fabric provides local NVMe storage and optional accelerator slots. On-board environmental sensors (temperature, humidity, power, vibration) feed the embedded DCIM agent, which streams alerts upstream over a resilient WAN link. Everything inside a footprint small enough for a wall-mount or half-rack edge site.

DEPLOYMENT TOPOLOGY

Connection diagram.

The connection diagram maps the DF-S11 into a typical remote site. A single WAN uplink (dual-SIM cellular optional) carries telemetry and operator traffic back to the central DCIM. A local LAN port serves site devices (cameras, PLCs, IoT gateways). Environmental sensors are hard-wired to the chassis. A wide-input PSU tolerates unstable edge power; an optional UPS module rides through short outages. Use this diagram when scoping site preparation, cable pulls, and connectivity SLAs.

The Datafabrix Edge Datacenter Node builds on our Intel Xeon Server Card, packaged in a compact 1U chassis rated for extended temperature (-10 to +55°C), filtered airflow, and industrial-grade internal components.

Every edge node phones home to a central DCIM instance for inventory, health, firmware, and telemetry. Out-of-band management (with optional cellular or satellite backhaul) means the ops team can recover a node without ever visiting the site.

Install the Datafabrix PCIe host adapter in your existing server. Connect via PCIe cable to the DF-S11 backplane uplink.

Populate the fabric

Insert NVMe drives, GPUs, or accelerators into hot-plug slots. Each device trains and appears as a native PCIe endpoint on the host.
